One address, and deliberately no form. A message that names the constraint you are working under gets the most useful answer. We discuss questions, positions and study designs; how our systems are built stays private.

Address
[email protected]No form, no field marked “how did you hear about us”, and nothing on this site collects what you type. A message exists only because you chose to send one.
Where a message goes
Use the contact route on this site for research correspondence. Council matters go to the Council directly at council.prepgraph.com.
Five reasons to write
What is worth an email
Each of these opens your own mail client with the subject already written. Nothing is required of you beyond the message.
Disagree with a position
Name the page and the section, and make the argument. Every position here is written to be argued with.

Propose a collaboration
The useful thing a school brings is constraint rather than access. Say what keeps recurring in your staffroom and what was quietly dropped last year. The conditions are set out below.
SubjectProposal — collaboration
Ask about the open protocol
altme.org is a separate initiative on a person’s rights over their own memory, and comment is the point of an open protocol rather than an interruption.

Report an error on this site
A wrong fact or a broken link. Say what and where, and we will put it right.

Press enquiry
The same address. Say what you are writing and by when, and you will hear back.

Yes. The most useful thing a school brings is not access but constraint: the question that keeps recurring in a staffroom, the thing that fails in the second week of every new system, the reason last year’s initiative was quietly dropped. That conversation is open now, on the terms below.
- What participation is
- A school brings questions, constraints and disagreement, and is free to conclude in public that a direction is wrong. A collaborator who cannot say no is not a collaborator.
- What governs it
- Anything involving students begins only after an ethics review has cleared it and the school has agreed in writing, under research terms rather than a commercial agreement with us, and a school can withdraw. A school’s withdrawal takes effect on request, with no notice period and no reason owed.
- What it is not
- Not a discounted licence and not a pilot renamed. If a school wants the product, that is a commercial conversation and deserves to be called one. We never name a school as validation of a finding; findings are published as studies, with their method.
Before you write
What stays private, and what we publish
A message that names the constraint you are working under, the size of the class, and the decision you are trying to make will get the most useful reply. How our systems are built is the one thing we do not discuss. A question about how well something works gets the answer this site gives throughout: outcomes are published as studies, with their method attached.
Kept private
How it is built
Two reasons, and only one of them is competitive. The other is that a mechanism described loosely becomes a claim nobody can test. Naming a technique tells a reader nothing about whether it survives a section of fifty, a syllabus that must be finished by March, and a teacher with four minutes between periods.
Published
How outcomes are published
As studies, with their method attached. A result published without its method is an assertion with a number attached, and a reader has no way to separate it from a well-designed study except by trusting us. So every study we run will be published with its method, its sample, and the conditions under which it would have come out otherwise.
